The Evpatoria Central Children’s Clinical Sanatorium of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry has more than 80 years of history. This is one of Crimea’s oldest health clinics.
The sanatorium is located in a small, picturesque corner of Evpatoria on Cape Karantinom, where the ancient settlement of Kerkinitida was situated.
Rehabilitation effectiveness studies conducted for the sanatorium established that 78% of its patients work and 56% have high and average constitution and without the sanatorium’s treatment a majority would have remained invalids. |

This modern multi-specialty rehabilitation center for adults with children (from 3 to 14 years old) has 600 berths. The scientists and physicians that work here with the priority of the development of efficient treatment methods of various diseases such as tuberculosis, polio and children’s cerebral palsy, define the nature and direction of this resort’s development.
In 1951, the sanatorium, which at that time became clinical, opened Evpatoria’s first surgical branch for treatment of bone-joint tuberculosis, with complex spine and large joint reconstruction operations. In the 1970’s, the main base became a sanatorium for the treatment of children with cerebral palsy, diseases of posture and bearing and respiratory allergies.
The sanatorium’s material resources provide good conditions for accommodations as well as for examination and treatment at modern levels. The property is enclosed and the complex has its own drinking water well, boiler, parking lots and laundry.
Children stay in a building for up to 300 with specialized branches of 75 spots each for allergy and psycho-nervous disorders and orthopedics. Each branch has special medical equipment and offices. The living rooms, playing rooms and bathrooms are equipped with furniture and adjustments that take the limitations of invalids into account.
During summer, visitors use pavilions with rooms for 2 to 3 people located right on the shore of the Black Sea.
The sanatorium uses both climatic therapy as well as standard medical treatment with physicians and specialists in many different areas and specialized dietary programs.
The sanatorium’s standard secondary school with library, special classes (computer class, lingual-training departments) and workshops allows the combination of the medical process with education for children.
The children’s leisure time is organized through a department of children’s creative activities, with athletic courts, a club or with walks and excursions in Crimea. The sanatorium has a beautiful beach with pavilions.
The sanatorium’s open-air athletic courts and playgrounds, dance platforms and auditorium are used to organize patient leisure, festivals and holiday activities. There are foot or bus excursions to hidden parts of Crimea, to visit its history and memorable places, and motorboat trips on the Black Sea.
